Just a few quick notes on happenings around town. Thanks for eating local!!!

In Midtown

Just chatted with my friend Gino Scala, currently with Gino the Soup Man and Pathways at UNR, about his new Midtown restaurant. They are shooting for a February opening of Great Full Gardens Cafe and Eatery. He says the menu will feature as much local product as he can, with plenty of it organic produce and hormone free meats. Items will include burgers, sandwiches and handmade soups from their sister company Gino the Soup Man as well as a full breakfast menu. Beer and wine will also be served.

Construction is under way as we speak. Look for them opening early next year at 555 S. Virginia St.

A local’s favorite, Fresh Mex, will be opening up on Virginia in the new Sticks project at Thoma and South Virginia. The buildings are coming along, but still a bit rough so we should be seeing openings early next year.

Down South

The Twisted Fork is set to open soon in the old Bully’s location in South Meadows on Steamboat Parkway. The owners have enjoyed a great following with their Woody’s location in Sparks. The word is that we will see Twisted Fork as more upscale sports bar with some great food and cocktails.
